Jaguar Unveils Concept Sketch Before Frankfurt Debut

Jaguar C X16 Concept Passenger Side

There has been a growing buzz surrounding Jaguar’s C-X16 concept, and now we can finally see what it’s all about thanks to the teaser sketch above. Jaguar released the rendering ahead of the car’s official unveiling next month at the Frankfurt Auto Show. Can you expect to see the C-X16 on the showroom floor soon? Jaguar says the C-X16 is a “precursor” of things to come, so a production version is probably not too far off.

The C-X16 takes some of its styling, such as the roofline and side-marker accents, from the larger XK coupe. However, this concept looks smaller, and if it does come to fruition expect it to sit below the bigger XK. Our sister publication Motor Trend reports that the production version, possibly called the XE, will have a V-6 engine mated to a manual transmission could be under the hood, along with an option for the same V-8 found in the XK.

As 2011 marks the E-Type’s 50th anniversary, it would be fitting if the XE borrowed some styling cues. We won’t know completely what the C-X16 is all about until it’s unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. Jaguar also released a 30-second spot teasing its newest concept and you can check it out below.
