Probably because of its projected losses for 2007 and 2008, Jaguar will now concentrate on the manufacturing and selling high-profit, top-end luxury cars. The refocused lineup will include even the entry level Ford-based X-Type models. However, it will mostly likely continue to be sold only in Europe. The upcoming XF sedan (pictured is the concept), which is still expected to be introduced in 2008, will be marketed in Japan, Germany, and the United States where it will be the “entry” car into the brand.
Our take? This refocus, more than anything else, illustrates Ford’s desire to divest itself of its top-of-the line Aston Martin. While we’ll miss the exotic brand, its departure, which is some time this year, will give Jaguar the space it needs to be top cat.
