Currently, neither Jaguar nor Land Rover offer a hybrid vehicle. There has been some talk that a new small Jaguar sports roadster could include an extended range hybrid powertrain featuring a three-cylinder gasoline engine. And it is said that Jaguar is developing an experimental hybrid and electric versions of its new XJ sedan.
Well, that’s about to change. Tata Motors of India said that it received a loan of $458 million to develop hybrid powertrains for Jaguar Land Rover. The money is coming from the European Investment Bank and has been granted under the European Clean Transport Facility. The money will be used to finance the development of mild and full hybrid drivetrains and more energy efficient vehicle bodies.
