Hyundai Boss Confirms New Azera Sedan for LA Auto Show

2011 Hyundai Grandeur Front Quarter Pier

The Hyundai Azera has gone through the past few years as the shy kid in the back of the Korean manufacturer’s parking lot. The solid but bland front-wheel drive luxury cruiser was simply overshadowed by the success of the Hyundai Genesis luxury sedan and breakthrough Sonata sedan.

While its existence may have slipped from memory, Hyundai is about to shine the spotlight on its wallflower, debuting the all-new 2012 Hyundai Azera at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November. Confirmed by a tweet from John Krafcik, president of Hyundai North America, the large lux sedan is going through final suspension tuning before it makes its way to the U.S.

Already on sale in South Korea as the Hyundai Grandeur, the new sedan receives the same fluidic design styling cues seen on the 2011 Hyundai Sonata. In its homeland, Koreans can choose between either a 2.4-liter four-cylinder or a 3.0-liter V-6, but expect the engine options to differ when it comes across the pond later this year.
