HUMMER to continue with H2, H3, and future H4 SUV

Hummer Front Left China

You think HUMMER’s going away? Think again.
As the deal between General Motors and Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industry Machinery moves slowly to fruition, plans are already being made about the brand’s future.

According to Automobile Magazine, the deal would call for GM to manufacture the H3 for Sichuan for about three years. The Chinese company could then renew production agreement for the continuing production of the H3 as well as renew the contract with AM General for the production of the H2. But pundits do not expect the Chinese company to renew with AM General.

Plans now are for smaller Hummers to be produced so that they can reach the average fuel economy ratings of 35.5 mpg in 2016. An H4 is expected to be introduced in 2012.
