Sneezing? Coughing? Tired? One man contacted Car Talk saying he felt sleepy after driving in his car for forty-five minutes and it was a regular happening. The problem? A leakage of carbon monoxide, an odorless, tasteless, colorless gas that was slipping through the engine and into his car, thereby causing drowsiness. Carbon monoxide kills.
The aforementioned car happened to be an older vehicle, however; new cars are built with chemically enhanced materials such as plastics and fabrics that are harboring toxins that could infect your health, given time. Chlorine in the glove compartment door? They are toxins called phthalates that on the upside make plastics resilient and softer but on the down side they can literally make you ill!
Car accidents aren’t the only form of hazard to human health when driving. Sitting in your car with the engine OFF can be detrimental to your well being as well. You never had allergies or asthma before, why do you have them now? Could be the airborne compounds from the carcinogens impacted in the materials of your new car.
Hey, all you men out there! Wondering why your manhood is shrinking of late? Ahem, check your dashboard for phthalates and brominated flame retardants (okay, maybe we’re exaggerating, but they’re not good).
