Not too long ago, Motor Trend held its Best Driver’s Car competition, and determined the 2013 911 Carrera 4S was the winner. However, two contenders were absent during the competition and have demanded a rematch. Carlos Lago and Randy Pobst head out to Laguna Seca with the current champ, along with the 2014 Ferrari F12 Berlinetta and the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. Can the Porsche hold on to the title?
Out of the three, the 731 horsepower Ferrari is the most powerful car these two have taken around Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, although that may not be enough for it to claim a victory. General Motors has upped its game with the introduction of the new Corvette Stingray, giving it better handling and more power. For the last two years, it hasn’t mattered how powerful, how luxurious, or how stable other vehicles were, the Porsche 911 Carrera 4S has managed to knock down all its competition.
Strictly going by lap times, the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta would be the winner with a lap time of just over 1 minute, 38 seconds. The Chevrolet Corvette came in second with a time just 24 tenths of a second slower than the Ferrari, while the Porsche managed to go around the track in 1 minute, 39 seconds flat. But this test isn’t just about who had the fastest lap. Watch the video below to see who Carlos Lago and Randy Pobst chose as their Best Driver’s Car.
