Alpine’s docking feature allows its Blackbird GPS navigation system to dock to one of its new in-dash audio-video product (the IVA-W205). When the Blackbird is docked into the A/V, the images from the Blackbird can be seen on a larger 6.5-inch pulse touchscreen. The A/V has additional features similar to rival’s AVN2210P.
Eclipse has developed a partnership with GPS navigation system manufacturer TomTom to offer a docking feature on its receivers. The company is offering a car radio/CD player (the AVN2210P) with a slot for a TomTom GPS device. The concept helps remove loose wires that are on typical portable navigation devices. The AVN2210P offers other features such as an iPod control, USB port, Bluetooth hands-free calling, and satellite radio compatible.
The IVA-W205 is expected to be available to earlier at a suggested price of $899. The Eclipse AVN2210P is expected to be available in May and will have a suggested price of $899.
