Fram Recalls 282,000 Oil Filters

2012 Subaru Impreza

At the end of January, Fram Group Operations, LLC (Fram) recalled certain Subaru service equipment oil filters for installation on the Subaru Legacy, Outback, Impreza, and Forester models that were equipped with four-cylinder engines. Upon start up, oil may leak from the oil filter gasket, causing rapid oil loss due to manufacturing anomalies.

If engine oil were to leak, said oil on a hot engine or exhaust will result in smoke, and possibly start a fire.

Fram will be replacing the defective oil filters at no charge to Subaru owners. For more information, owners can contact Fram at (800) 800-2075, Option 2, or at Fram’s website. Owners are also welcome to contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline by phone at (800) 327-4236 or online at www.safercar.gov.
