Ford’s first EcoBoost-powered sport truck, the 2014 F-150 Tremor, will be leading the pack as the pace truck for the Michigan International Speedway for the NASCAR Camping Work Truck Series Michigan National Guard 200 on August 17.
Jamie Allison, director of Ford Racing, said in a statement that “Michigan International Speedway is one of the fastest tracks on the NASCAR circuit, so the vehicle pacing the field also needs to be fast. The 2014 Ford F-150 Tremor, with its light-weight configuration, EcoBoost engine and launch-optimized performance, is well-suited for this job.”
The new 2014 Ford F-150 Tremor, which delivers 365 horsepower and 420 lb.-ft. of torque, offers the same powertrain that customers can currently purchase. The F-150 Tremor has been modified to become the pace truck, including a bank of safety lights mandated by NASCAR. This short-wheelbase, regular-cab model will go on sale this fall, offering distinctive styling and great performance.
The F-150 Tremor is also the only regular-cab F-150 to offer a flow-through center console and bucket seats. The new truck will pair the style of the FX Appearance Package with the EcoBoost engine, with a launch-optimized 4.10 rear axle to provide customers with quick acceleration. The interior will feature black leather seating with red piping, brushed-metal accents, and a red-stitched steering wheel.
