Rumors have been floating around that Fiat is working on a wagon version of its Viaggio, basically the same car as the American Dodge Dart. Drawings surfaced on Chinese webpages, with the theory that they were leaked from a Fiat product presentation. These renderings portray sleek wagon-like bodywork that will appeal to the younger car buyers in China.
There is news that Fiat will also be producing a hatchback to add to the Viaggio lineup. The hatchback, codenamed 343C, will be slotted under the sedan, with the wagon being positioned above it. Although there is no set launch date for the hatchback and possible wagon, the Viaggio hatchback will possibly make its debut at the Shanghai Auto Show this year.
Pricing for the Fiat Viaggio sedan is roughly between $17,220 and $25,134 and powered with a 1.4 turbo engine, with either 120 or 150 horsepower, with the option of a five-speed manual transmission or a dual-clutch automatic. The Viaggio made its debut in April 2012 at the Beijing Auto Show and was produced in China by the Guangzhou-Fiat joint venture.
The Fiat Viaggio sedan recently went into production and will hit the Chinese market in September of this year with a starting price of around $19,300. Renderings of the sedan were created by 163.com, based off patent drawings of the Dodge Dart hatchback that surfaced a little over a week ago. Both the Dodge Dart and Fiat Viaggio share the Fiat C-EVO platform, along with the Alfa Romeo Giulietta.
