Chrysler, in its partnership with Fiat, has announced that it will take over the research and development of hybrid powertrains while the latter will take charge of fine tuning and making them fit for each brand.
4WheelsNews posts that the 2010 Alfa Romeo Giulietta will be using one of Chrysler’s hybrid powertrains, making it the first Italian car to get an American hybrid powertrain.

The Giulietta’s powertrain will be dubbed the “Compact Wide” and will serve as a base for at least seven new cars including ones in the Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep brands.
