The Fiat 500e has been given an EPA rating of 108 MPGe, which it claims to be the best in its class. It also has a range of 87 miles, which it says is the best of high-volume manufacturers, a direct slight to the Tesla Model S, which can go in excess of 200 miles with larger battery packs.

While the Fiat 500 initially got a cool reception in the U.S., sales have picked up recently. The Fiat 500 Abarth helped spur sales, and the upcoming 500 Turbo will help even more. The 2013 Fiat 500e battery-electric powertrain produces 111 hp and takes about four hours to charge on a level 2 (240 volt) charger.
