EZ Lube may soon be hanging up its tubes

Ez Lube Store

The one-stop auto maintenance shop EZ Lube is facing the possible suspension or, worse, revocation of its business license. The California Bureau of Automotive Repair, which is part of the Department of Consumer Affairs, recommended therevocation following a two-year investigation. Customers have been complaining since 2004 that the chain store would either charge them for unnecessary services, such as transmission flushes, or not provide even basic oil changes after the customer had paid for it. Undercover agents confirmed the practices still continue despite the company’s reassurance that it had changed its policies.

Our take? Most consumers, unless they’re mechanics themselves and have the proper tools, will have a difficult time determining if companies such as EZ Lube have performed the desired services. The article recommends following your car manuals guidelines for routine maintenance. Contact information is also provided if you feel you may have been a victim of EZ Lube service.
