EPA Issues Official MPG Figures for 2013 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible with Manual Transmission

The Environmental Protection Agency has released official mpg figures on the 2013 Volkswagen Beetle convertible.

The EPA rated two models, both equipped with six-speed manual transmissions. The 2013 VW Beetle equipped with the 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine gets 21 mpg city, 30 mpg highway, and average a combined 24 mpg. The diesel-powered Volkswagen Beetle TDI’s figures are, not surprisingly, considerably higher, with the convertible getting 28 mpg city, 41 mpg highway, and 32 mpg combined. The fixed roof version of the VW Beetle garners similar figures for both gasoline and TDI models.

The EPA has not released figures for VW Beetles convertibles equipped with automatic transmission. We hazard to guess they’ll be similar to their coupe siblings, which get 21 mpg city/30 mpg highway for gasoline-powered versions while the VW Beetle TDI coupe gets 29 mpg city/39 mpg highway.
