Downsizing from SUV? Try these full-sized vehicles

2006 Chevy Silverado

UPDATE: Additional information and resources from Intellichoice. While many Americans are abandoning their sports cars, mid-sized to large SUVs, and pickups for more fuel efficient vehicles, many balk at the notion of a compact or even crossover while many cringe at a hybrid’s higher price. For such buyers, Business Week (BW) reviewed various large cars and other such vehicles not only for driver, passenger, and cargo space but for best fuel economy as well. BW created different categories for its choices knowing that buyers have different expectations and uses for their large vehicles.

BW’s results include:

  • Chevrolet Silverado for Pickup Truck with Best Payload (pictured)
  • Chevrolet Trailblazer for SUV with Best Overall Fuel Economy
  • Ford Crown Victoria for Large Sedan with Most Space
  • Ford Five Hundred for Large Sedan with Best Overall Fuel Economy
  • Honda Odyssey for Minivan with Best Overall Fuel Economy
  • Lexus GS300 for Luxury Sedan with Best Overall Fuel Economy
  • Lincoln Town Car for Luxury Sedan with Most Space
  • Toyota Land Cruiser for SUV with the Most Space
  • Toyota Sienna for Minivan with the Most Space
  • Toyota Tundra Pickup for Truck with Best Overall Fuel Economy

Our take? While we agree, overall, with BW’s choices, we’re not to sure about that Lexus. Isn’t the GS a mid-sized sedan?
