General Motors is getting a clear reputation of being green after all. The latest nod comes from the Green Car Journal. The magazine awarded the Chevrolet Equinox fuel cell crossover with its Green Car Journal’s Green Car Vision Award. This is the first time they have honored a limited production vehicle for "forward thinking technology."
The Equinox won over the BMW Hydrogen 7, the Honda FCX Clarity, the Phoenix Electric SUT, and the Toyota Prius plug-in.
General Motors will be offering more than 100 Chevrolet Equinox Fuel Cell vehicles to consumers as a test fleet as part of the company’s “Project Driveway.”
Our take? Perhaps one feature GCJ liked about the Equinox is that it can start and operate in sub-freezing temperatures. That’s been a challenge for fuel cell vehicles.
