California moves to stop lighting up in cars with kids

In a move that’s surely going to raise some ruffles if not outright battles, Assemblyman Paul Koretz, D-West Hollywood, has introduced Assembly Bill (AB) 379 which would prohibit smoking in any vehicle with when a passenger is 6 years old or younger or weighs less than 60 pounds. Fines would start at $100 and can rise up to $350 after assessment. Note the bill does not consider if the vehicle windows are open.More details can be found at the article. Sounds fair to me. Funny thing though, will cops start carrying scales on their cars so they can verify if the child is under 60lbs?

I like this idea as well, I think it should be pushed even a little further so the kids are older/bigger.

I couldn’t agree more. I always wonder what’s going through parent’s minds when I see them cruising the freeways, hot-boxing their minivan w/Jr. and Sis in the back seats.
