So where are the most cars being stolen? According to the National Insurance Crime Bureau, the state with the most thefts is California. Top five include:
- Modesto, California
- Las Vegas, Nevada
- San Diego, California
- Stockton, California
- San Francisco, California
Of course, you have to take into account that California has the most cars than any other state. However, other reasons being claimed are the proximity of many of the cities on the list to Mexico.
What?
Apparently it’s an easy drive to Mexico where parts are stripped and quickly sent to market. The pundits who point to this reinforce their argument by noting that some of the other cities high up in the list are in Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona.
