NEW YORK (AFP) – The US division of Japan’s Toyota on Wednesday recalled some 95,700 cars in the United States, saying icing in cold temperatures could impair the braking system.
The recall affects the 2009 and 2010 models of the Toyota Corolla and the 2008 and 2009 models of the Scion xD — all equipped with 1.8-liter engines, Toyota said in a statement.

Purchased an 08 Corolla new and brake master cylinder has always groaned. It is a sickening sound and every time I’ve complained to the dealer I’ve been told they could not find anything wrong. I decided to check the web and see countless references to brake problems on Corollas and I agree with you. Shame on Corolla for never telling us about brake problems. You would think they would hve learned their lesson by now, but I guess they just do not care., just as I will never buy another Corolla again. Apparently the feds don’t care enough to force Toyota to recall all their Corollas to fix ongoing brake problems,, which needless to say is clearly a major safety issue
My Toyota 2010 Corolla has faulty brakes and I never received a recall. How come? I’m very angry with Toyota about this. We almost got into an accident 2 weeks ago and we’re afraid to drive this car. We purchased thias car July 4, 2009 and they never notified us! Shame on them.
Wow…Toyota is just having a bad month aren’t they. This is the 2nd or 3rd time I’ve seen them have a recall for whatever reason.
