BMW Sets Higher Prices for Turbo Four-Cylinder 528i and Z4 Roadster

2012 Bmw 528i Side Profile

Downsizing doesn’t always mean cheaper prices, and as proof take the prices recently announced for the 2012 BMW 528i sedan and 2012 BMW Z4. The base engine for both is BMW’s new turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, but despite the smaller engine, the German automaker bumped up the 528i’s price $2505 to $47,575, and the Z4’s by $2075 to $49,525 for 2012.

2011 BMW Z4 Front Quarter 300x187 imagePower for the new engine remains the same as the outgoing model’s at 240 horsepower, but the smaller engine should top the older 5 Series 32 mpg highway. Expect fuel economy to be better yet in the significantly lighter Z4 roadster.

More details should emerge soon about the 528i and Z4 in upcoming weeks with the cars going on sale in the U.S. next month.
