BMW plans “baby” Rolls-Royce

Rolls Royce Phantom

BMW, the parent company of Rolls-Royce, announced at the Paris Motor Show that it plans to add a smaller model to its lineup by the end of the decade. The new model, almost certainly a sedan, will be positioned between the BMW 760 and Rolls-Royce Phantom and likely in the £135,000-£200,000 ($252,750 to $375,000) price range. Officials insist that the new car is not being designed to compete with arch-rival Bentley’s highly successful Continental lineup, which includes the GT coupe and Flying Spur sedan.

Our take? The suits at Rolls-Royce and BMW can deny it all they want, but they are clearly gunning for Bentley with this smaller Rolls-Royce. It remains to be seen if Rolls-Royce’s choice is a smart move or not
