Although the new BMW 2 Series was set to debut later this week, leaked photos of the new M235i have appeared ahead of schedule on the internet. This 1 Series coupe replacement was recently teased in a short 35-second commercial, giving the viewer a small glimpse at the all-new model and the date of the official reveal.
It’s been almost a year since we first caught the 2015 BMW 2 Series testing in Germany sporting the typical camouflage. Back then we speculated that it would share some of the same engine options as the 3 Series, including the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder. A possible diesel variant to better compete against the Audi A3 may also join the engine lineup, but BMW hasn’t made any announcements yet. Although we don’t have any definitive details on what will be under the hood of the new 2 Series, these engine variants seem the most plausible.
The 2015 BMW 2 Series is expected to debut next month at the Los Angeles Auto Show, and may be one of the last rear-wheel drive entry level vehicles produced by the German automaker. Thanks to the leaked photos, the official reveal of the 2 Series may be moved up; we like what we’re seeing.
