BMW Appoints New Design Chief

BMW-Design-Sketch

Starting in June, Karim Habib, a 42 year-old Lebanese-born Canadian, will head BMW design. Habib has been with the German automaker dating back to the late 90s, and was most recently in charge of exterior design. Two years ago BMW got Habib back from German rival Mercedes-Benz, where he directed the advanced design studio.

Habib will be under Adrian van Hooydonk, senior vice president of BMW design. Habib was involved in the design of the Concept CS, and was the director of design for the current BMW 7 Series. “Karim habib is an outstanding designer who has had a significant impact on the design of the BMW brand over many years. His longstanding experience and subtle instinct for timely elegance and dynamics are the ideal prerequisites for this demanding task,” said van Hooydonk.
