As a sales leader and de-facto flagship, you can’t blame Acura for not messing with success when it came redesigning the MDX. The 2014 Acura MDX looks a lot like its predecessor, with the only real visual distinction being a toned-down grille treatment and cool looking multi-element headlights.
But the all-new 2014 Acura MDX really is all new, from its engine, chassis, suspension, and refinement. The new MDX will also offer front-wheel drive for the first time, a nod to sunbelt states that don’t have to deal with bad weather as much. There’s new technology aplenty, including the same active cruise control and lane keeping assist system we’ve enjoyed in the Acura RLX. The new MDX is quieter, thanks to a new structure and active noise cancellation. A new V-6 engine makes a little less power, but since it has 300 fewer pounds to haul around its fuel economy improves without a perceivable impact on acceleration.
