Because Epic Dramatization Can Never Be Too Epic, We Present this Nissan Commercial

2012 Nissan Frontier Airplane Commercial

Fast fact: a Boeing 777 can weigh more than 600,000 pounds. Why should matter to you? It shouldn’t unless you’re a pilot or an airplane aficionado.

Or you’re a big enough idiot to try a stunt like the one portrayed in the Nissan Frontier commercial below.

Called “Landing Gear,” the 30-second spot shows a plane with its landing gear stuck halfway open. With just moments before it is expected to crash and explode into a ball of flames as it meets the runway below it, the Nissan Frontier with its “full-size payload and towing” shows up to save the day. Acting as a front axle, the Frontier guides the plane to safety, thwarting danger for potentially hundreds of people.

It all sounds fantastic until you realize that the Nissan Frontier has a payload of right around 1500 pounds and can only tow up to 6500 pounds — a far cry from that 300 tons mentioned earlier. But a little dramatization never hurt anyone, right?

Check out the video below to see the commercial in all of its epic glory.
