Automobile Magazine had a chance to check out several pre-productions models of the Chevrolet Cruz, the brand’s compact entry against segment leaders Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, and even the current Ford Focus*.
The folks at Automobile Magazine found the compact, well, not so compact, especially the interior which felt more being in a mid-sized sedan than a small vehicle. However, the Cruz handled like a compact, matching the Civic in dampening road bumps and other obstacles.
Interiors of the pre-productions models were not yet complete at the time of the article. Overall, the editors seemed cautiously optimistic about the compact sedan, and point to the Cruz’s interior styling, ride, and powertrain refinement at least matching the leaders. It will be interesting to see the production model, though, take on entries in the segment like the upcoming Ford Focus*.
*An all-new version is set to debut in January 2011.
