August has come to a close, and along with it the unofficial end of Summer. This month saw many automakers continue to break records and come back into the positive. Only Volvo and Volkswagen had sales decreases, making August a sales success. Nissan had its best-ever retail sales month, as well as its sixth consecutive month of sales records. Even Toyota boasted its best month of sales in the past five years.
Honda had a great sales jump for its CR-V, marking the best month ever for the crossover. The MDX has also broken its all-time record this month, propelling the brand to a sales increase of 5.1 percent. Taking a look at Mazda, the automaker announced that this August was its best in sales since August 2003, thanks to Mazda6 sales that have outpaced all expectations. The CX-5 also contributed to the brand’s success by earning its best sales month ever.
There were countless other brands who had strong sales numbers, and it seemed like nobody could stop Jaguar once its new models were released. The automaker is up 67 percent compared to August 2012, mainly thanks to sales of the extremely popular XF. With the F-Type recently released, sales will no doubt pick up as the year progresses.
