Acura Recalling 52,000 TLs for Leaking Hose

2008_Acura_TL_02

Acura is recalling 52,615 examples of the TL and TL Type-S, covering model years 2007 to 2008. The Acura TL, pictured above, has a power steering hose that deteriorates—which can cause a leak in power steering fluid, ultimately cutting out power steering.

In addition, power steering fluid could leak onto the catalytic converters, which could cause the cars to smoke or even start a fire. So far, no injuries, accidents or fires have been reported, but given the involvement of such a vital component, Acura is doing this voluntarily.

The company will begin contacting owners in the middle of June, and dealers will replace the weak hose with a much more resilient one. Concerned owners can contact Acura’s customer hotline by dialing (800) 382-2238, then selecting option 4.
