Well, it's (unofficially) out.
Chrysler’s five year plan has been "leaked" to the Wall Street Journal reports Motor Trend.
According to the newspaper, most Fiat products won’t make it to the U.S. until 2012. That’s because of a more stringent crash and emissions standards in the States and a bad currency exchange rate. Experts say that Fiat will have to manufacture its cars at U.S. plants which will need to be constructed which will delay introductions.
However, the Fiat 500, which is slated for the U.S. by 2011, will be built in Mexico.
The plan calls for the killing of nine Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep models. Models to be killed include the Dodge Caliber, PT Cruiser, Sebring, Avenger, Grand Caravan and Nitro. Models in the Jeep stable that will be killed include the Commander, Compass, and Patriot. Dodge trucks will be shifted into the Ram brand.
