It appears that Chrysler wants to live up to the philosophy of less is more.

According to the Detroit News, the company's drastic cuts has resulted in $4 billion to $5 billion available cash, far less than previous years.

Analysts and pundits are concerned. Chrysler recently released an ambitious plan to rebuild its brand equity. The company expects to introduce 11 new or refreshed vehicles by 2014. The first to be enhanced include the Dodge Caravan, Avenger, and Journey crossover. Expect to see a new Dodge Charger in 2010 and a seven-passenger crossover will replace the Durango.

Other plans also call for the Dodge Caliber hatchback to be replaced with a compact sedan and a new D-size sedan will replace the Dodge Avenger.

A new Jeep Wrangler with a diesel engine is coming at the end of 2011. The vehicle will include a start/stop system that will turn the engine off when the vehicle is in idle.

So how will Chrysler finance all these vehicles? Chrysler' sChief Financial Officer says this is possible because the company has learned to be more efficient while spending less. CEO Sergio Marchionne says that the company had $5.7 billion in cash at the end of September which is up from $4 billion at the end of June.

The CFO also said that he prepares a monthly financial report that he sends to the U.S. Treasury. He added that Chrysler will give public reports on its quarterly finances starting at the beginning of 2010.
