We Americans are a screwy bunch.
We seem to root for the underdog, the malcontent, the loser. Take, for example, the Edsel.
Now considered a joke by many, the Edsel did have some innovations. For example, it featured a push-button transmission in the steering wheel and self-lubricating front suspension.
Thus, believe it or not, there are actually Edsel fan clubs. Members recently visited the plant where the Edsel was produced to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the end of the production of the car.
Our take? There is a moral to the rise and fall of the Edsel. Auto companies have experienced set backs and have been able to overcome them.
