Chrysler, General Motors dealerships turn to Mazda for Salvation

Here's a glimmer of hope for General Motors and Chrysler dealerships axed by their former patrons. How about another automaker steps in and reopens said dealerships doors?

There is some talk among the execs at Mazda to go out and turn closing GM and Chrysler dealerships into Mazda ones. According the Motor Trend, Phillip Spender, executive Vice President of Mazda,  states that he has been approached by a number of owners. Mazda is open to the idea, but Spender added that the company didn’t “...necessarily need any more dealers.”

Some pundits are saying that more dealers in the United States could help the Japanese company sell more than 300,000 Mazda3s worldwide per year -- a goal that Mazda has set for itself.
