Did Chrysler, Fiat conspire to stall Dodge Viper bid to protect Fiat's Ferrari?

Has there been some hanky panky concerning Chrylser, Fiat and a possible bid for the Dodge Viper?

Representative Darrell Issa of California said that a group of investors considered the purchase of the Viper in March and April of this year. He also asserts that there is record of a draft sales agreement that was never signed and there is no explanation why the proposal was never completed.

As a result, Issa has sent a letter to Bob Nardelli, CEO of Chrysler, charging that the lack of candor concerning a possible bid shows that the Chrysler bankruptcy is being mishandled. Issa asked Nardelli about the existence of other documents concerning the possible sale and, if such documents exist, he demanded that they be shared. Chrysler asserts that it did not receive a bid for Viper.

Sounds like a simple mistake. Well, reports are coming out that the report was submitted but was hidden because Fiat feared possible competition to its Ferrari division.

Hmmm. What do you think?
