General Motors versus Chrysler Bankruptcy: There falls Goliath

Let’s face it. Going through bankruptcy is not an easy task.

Chrysler is now experiencing the feeling of what people think could now take years. If that's the case, what can General Motors expect if it, too, has to go through Chapter 11 bankruptcy?

Many analysts are saying that it will be far more tougher for GM than it has been and will be for Chrysler. For one thing, the once number one automaker is bigger than Chrysler. General Motors has more factories than Chrysler, more employees, twice as many dealerships. It has many more partners, and so the ramification of its bankruptcy would have global influence. What happens to General Motors in Detroit will have an effect on GM divisions Saab and Opel in Europe. There is just too many pieces that needs to be dealt with outside of bankruptcy court, say many auto analysts.

By the way, most analysts seem to think that the bankruptcy option for General Motors is inevitable.

I think we have know for a while that bankruptcy was inevitable for both these auto makers, I think most of us were hoping it was just a bad dream.

GM management pushed their company into this situation. I've owned both old and new Chevrolets (plus 1 Oldsmobile) for the past 26 years. I had a new GM car's engine rebuilt after only 4,000 miles. My S10's engine seized after 100,000 miles. My new 2007 Monte Carlo had warped wheels from the factory, and GM refused to stand by their warranty. General Motors deserves the end result for the lack of quality in their vehicles, and abandoning long-term customers with their defective product. Goodbye GM!!!
