Before bankruptcy, Chrysler was trying to decide to kill its popular PT Cruiser crossover in a cost cutting move.

Now Fiat is starting to make decisions which includes possibly saving the Cruiser.

Which it just did (make a decision, that is). Originally, production of the PT Cruiser was expected to end this summer. But now it is said that the car will continue to be produced and used as a forerunner of the Fiat 500 until the latter can be introduced into the U.S.

Now plans are to produce the PT Cruiser into December 2010. Once production ends, the plant will be re-tooled to manufacture the Fiat 500 and the Fiat Panda.
