The news coming out of BMW USA makes it apparent that the German automaker is also experiencing the heat from the current auto depression. And it has come up with an innovative way to try and get people into BMW showrooms around the U.S.

The company says that it will make the first two payments toward the purchase of select models throughout its line. The company added that each payment would be up to $750 per month or a maximum of $1,500 for the total. The vehicles have to be financed through BMW Financial Services.

Eighteen models are covered by this incentive including the 1-Series, 3-Series, 5-Series, 6-Series and X5.

The offer can be combined with extraordinary interest finance rates ranging from 0.9 percent to 3.9 percent.

The incentive ends on March 2 for the remaining 2008 models and will go on to March 31 for the 2009 vehicles.
