Just when Chinese automaker Geely Automobile Holding Ltd. finally showed signs that it just might be interested in buying Volvo from Ford, there is a report that the Chinese government has given permission to Chery to make its own bid for the Swedish based company.

Also, there are reports that two other Chinese companies -- Dongfeng and Changan -- are also interested. Both companies currently deny the news.

It is being said that Ford wants $6.45 billion in order to make a deal.
