Question: Is it possible to turn a 1971 Volkswagen Rabbit into a car that can achieve 70 miles per gallon for just $7,000? Popular auto aficionados Top Gear says it can do it.



The plan involves a 28-year old Volkswagen Rabbit and replacing the engine with a computer controlled, turbocharged VW TDI engine. Then the exterior of the car will be re-shaped to make it more aerodynamic.
