General Motors to park Cadillac XLR in Junkyard Permanently

If you're a fan of the Cadillac XLR convertible like we are, well, you better go out and buy one. Fast.

Writes Motor Trend:

As a result of its lackluster sales due to stiff competition and high pricing, reports say parent company General Motors has officially pulled the plug on the XLR. Beginning this spring, around 40 workers at the company's Bowling Green Assembly Plant in Kentucky will be affected by the model's demise (there was no word on if they will be reassigned or laid off).

Our take? Sad, sad, news. Hopefully General Motors will bring out that Cadillac CTS convertible once it gets back in the black.

So sad, both for the workers and the vehicle. Yes, they are higher priced than most people can afford, but just when GM is making such excellent, cutting-edge cars, the bottom drops out. Sad. The XLR-V kicks butt.
