It is well known that General Motors needs capital. Thus, there has been a lot of talk that the company will be selling more of its nameplates or even take the more drastic move of killing a nameplate or two. One brand that was believed to be on the block was Saturn.
But GM sales chief Mark LaNeve has stepped forward and voiced the company’s support for Saturn. The company is said to be trying to create a new business model for Saturn and plans call for an “aggressive” incentive program to help spike sales starting in January.
So what are these plans? Well, GM said it will explore alternatives for Saturn that could include joining with another automaker, selling Saturn, or closing the brand. Note that LaNeve added that GM will be making announcements concerning Saab and HUMMER by the end of March.
