Now that Congress got off its arse and agreed to assist the Detroit Three stave off bankruptcy and, worse, unemployment, for a few more months, foreign governments are, too, finally giving more than a few brain cells to assist their own troubled automakers.
Word is that the British government will be assisting Tata Motors, which is the owner of Jaguar Land Rover, two British companies.
Jaguar Land Rover employs about 15,000 workers and has put a total of 400 million pounds (around $587 million) a year into research and development. Moreover, it is expected that they will be releasing several new models next year. The debuts will include a new Jaguar XJ saloon and a series of hybrid Land Rovers.
