Automakers,  suffering due to the recession, are delaying new models in order to save some money.

Volkswagen has announced it is delaying the introduction of its Roadster mid-engine concept sports car. The German automaker, which is going through a nasty takeover by Porsche, denies it is the economic situation that caused the launch delay. It says that it believes the car will attract more attention at the Detroit Auto Show.

There is very little information about the Roadster. People are guessing it will be powered by a 2.0 liter inline four cylinder engine. It is also expected to be very light so that it can go against the Lotus Elise.
