Flying Ferrari 599 GTB 'Autovolantor' Flies You Over Traffic

Have you ever been stuck in traffic for so long you begin to muse? You entertain all sorts of weird thoughts like the car you are driving can fly and any second now you’re going to press some button or pull some lever and the wings will come out and into the wild blue yonder you go.

Well there is a company that is trying to bring reality to your musing. It is developing a flying car called the Autovolantor.

Aircraft designers at Moller International in the United States are said to be working on the project.  Modeled after the Ferrari 599 GTB, the Autovolantor has eight fans capable of generating 800 horsepower. It can reach a speed of 100 miles per hour on the ground, 150 miles per hour in the air, and reach an altitude of 5,000 feet. Once the car is in the air, it maneuvers like a helicopter.

The whole idea of the car came about due to a request from a wealthy businessman who wanted an easier commute from the center of Moscow to his country home.

The talk is that the car will actually be ready in about two years.

Our take? Neat concept. However, it's a far cry from the flying cars in Blade Runner, and it's just as likely to go into production as well.

This one needs to stay as a fantasy, giving us something to daydream about while sitting in that traffic, please.
