As Ford faces bad news (i.e., low sales, draining costs, etc.), here is some good news.

According to a U.S. Global Research System Study, Ford, Lincoln and Mercury customers give it high marks in terms of quality. In fact, the survey shows that the automaker competes quite well against top notch Acura, Toyota, Lexus, and Scion.

The survey showed that 18 out of 24 Ford, Lincoln and Mercury models showed improvement. The Ford Focus, for example, is now equal to the Toyota Corolla in “Things Gone Wrong” and customer satisfaction. Even better, the Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan ranked better than the Toyota Camry in the same category “Things Gone Wrong” and tied in customer satisfaction.

The survey seeks information from customers on “Things Gone Wrong." It shows that Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury have improved on this by 33 percent from 2004 to 2008.

Ford also ranked best for “Things Gone Wrong” for performance in such things as vehicle engineering and electrical.

Our take? Some of us remember there was a time when Ford pressed quality with the slogan “Quality is Job One.” We guess it continues on with that tradition.
