Unfortunately, the first two years worth of Ferrari Californias have already been claimed. If you’re just now considering getting one, you probably won’t see it until 2011. And as Ferrari’s president Luca di Montezemolo said, “A car is like a good looking woman. You desire her but you have to wait for her... but if you wait too long, you start to look elsewhere.”
Ah fidelity. How fickle are you?
The Ferrari California contains a number of departures from Ferrari’s norm, including a retractable hard-top, a front side V8, a seven speed dual clutch transmission, a multi-link rear suspension and a traction control system. Don’t let the fact that it’s a convertible fool you; it still goes from zero to sixty in less than 3.9 seconds.
And let’s not forget that the Ferrari is green; “green” being a relative term considering the near F1 specs. The direct injection engine meant to improve efficiency means the California “only” releases 305g/km of CO2 emissions.
There is no better place than California to cruise in a convertible, and clearly Ferrari understands that even if the rest of the country doesn’t.
