2008 Jeep Patriot Gets "Good" from Insurance Institute for Highway Safety

Auburn Hills, Mich., Oct, 2008  - The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety this week revised its crash test rating of the 2008 Jeep® Patriot, upgrading the frontal crash test result to “Good,” the institute’s top rating.



In addition to the top rating for frontal protection, the 2008 Jeep Patriot equipped with available front torso airbags also was rated “Good” for side impact protection and “Acceptable” for rear crash protection.

Jeep Patriot was among eight small SUVs rated in an August 20, 2008, press release from the Institute. On Wednesday, the Institute revised its web site, stating that the dummy was not properly calibrated during the test and giving the Patriot the highest crash test rating for frontal protection.

Jeep Patriot has best-in-class 4x4 off-road capability (Trail Rated when equipped with Freedom Drive II Off-Road Package. Features include: low-range mode generating best-in-class 19:1 crawl ratio, brake traction control, hill descent control and 19-inch water fording capability)

Jeep Patriot offers excellent fuel economy, along with standard ESP, brake traction control, ABS, side-curtain airbags, Electronic Roll Mitigation and Brake Assist
