Hummer, Dodge Viper to get UAW as part of the Deal

We guess you can say that the United Auto Workers Union is in a partnership with the Big Three Detroit auto makers whether the auto makers like it or not. And such a tie can throw a monkey wrench into all sorts of plans.

Take for example General Motors’ desire to sell its Hummer brand and Chrysler’s urge to sell the Dodge Viper. The union knows that who ever buys which ever nameplate will have a great effect on the members of the UAW.

So it is said that the union has to agree to who Viper or Hummer are sold to. The UAW does not want an owner who would pull production from the United States. You can imagine that's the last thing either GM or Chrysler want to hear as they continue to find new owners for the brands.
