2010 Dodge Rams to come with 5 Liter Diesel Engine. Optional

We realize that, with the recent rise in gas prices, people prefer slightly less voracious gas burners even if they drive something as guzzling as a SUV (which completely defeats the point of saving gas in the first place).

Now personally, we were under the assumption that an average light SUV generally carried around a five liter engine. If that’s the case, then what is the big deal about the 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 getting a five liter Cummins diesel? Is it just because its diesel?

Well, whatever. The point is the option of a five liter Cummins diesel engine comes with light 2010 Rams. The 2500 and 3500 Rams will still have their 6.7 liter power cranks. Chrysler may or may not share this lighter diesel engine with Nissan.

Our take? Diesel SUVs just might be the doorway to open up American markets to diesel technology. You don’t really see that many hybrid SUVs out there.
