The now India-owned company is planning on launching two new high-performance felines: the Jaguar XFR and a revamped XKR. Both have 510 horsies and 500 torque coming from a supercharged direct injection V-8 weighing in at 5.0 liters. That’s a lot of power ready to go on sale in March 2009. Nice release of two similar cars at the same time.
Europe has already gotten an earlier, toned-down version of the new Jaguar XKR, dubbed the XKR-S. Its impressive handling is not to be scoffed at while making significant performance gains over the current Jaguar XKR 420 hp unit.
Meanwhile, owner Tata has also pushed to the forefront the X351, a rework of the XJ sedan for 2011. The X351 may be a twin turbo diesel, or at least come with the option.
More details can be found below. Our take? Instead of purring efficiency, Jaguar seems to be staying true to the hear-me-roar mentality of performance cars. Whether or not they can cut emissions to meet distinctly possible future standards is a whole other issue though.
